School Description and Mission Statement

This section provides information about the school’s goals and programs.

As you read the School Accountability Report Card, you will gain a better understanding of Fremont as a school which has a record for improvement, a faculty that is professionally skilled and personally committed to meeting the learning needs of students and a student body which is enthusiastic and motivated to perform well.

John C. Fremont School, a magnet school, is located in Southeast Bakersfield on a 13-acre site.  The School is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. and serves Pre-K through 6th grade students.

The mission of Fremont School is to educate and inspire all students to reach their maximum potential and become productive citizens of a rapidly changing society.

Opportunities for Parental Involvement

This section provides information about opportunities for parents to become involved with school activities.

The School Community relationship is thriving.  Together we continue to make strides to provide students with optimal learning experiences both at school and within the community.  In addition to the Magnet Program, we have received funding for an after-school program which extends the day for 120 community students to 6:00 p.m.  The PTA, School Site Council, volunteers and a host of other community organizations are actively and collaboratively working together and generously supporting projects for students and staff.

Newsletters, event announcements and classroom communications are published on a regularly scheduled basis.  Newsletters are sent home monthly.  Members of the community are guest speakers at awards assemblies and participate in educational activities in the classroom.  Parent Ed sessions are offered through the school on the 3rd Thursday of each month from 8:30-9:30 p.m.  Parents also have the opportunity to actively participate in our SSC, ELAC, DELAC, DAC, SAC, PTA and monthly Parent Ed classes offered through the district office.
