School Description and Mission Statement

This section provides information about the school’s goals and programs.

This is the nineteenth year of the School Accountability Report Card that was established by Proposition 98, an initiative passed by California voters.

Munsey School Staff is “Highly Qualified” and dedicated to the academic achievement of every student.  In Partnership with parents and the community, we strive to challenge are students to master grade level standards, to become outstanding citizens, and individuals who care for others.

We offer opportunities for students to learn by implementing the District’s Pathway to Teaching and Learning, Reading First Strategies, Character building activities, and after school sports.

Opportunities for Parental Involvement

This section provides information about opportunities for parents to become involved with school activities.

Parents have an open invitation to volunteer in the classroom, to attend report card conferences, Student Intervention Team meetings, and to be active participants in the Munsey School PTA.  Parents can participate in the School Site Council and are always welcome to attend monthly meetings.  Parent input is sought through a Needs Assessment Survey in the Spring.  Parents are always welcome to attend assemblies, awards ceremonies, and special events.  Parents are kept abreast of these events through a monthly newsletter and special notice.  Teachers communicate with teachers in weekly contacts, parent conferences, and classroom newsletters.  In addition, parents have the opportunity to join the Munsey School “Strive for Five” parent involvement program and weekly “Coffee Shop” that culminates with an end of the year Parent Appreciation Luncheon.
